New Greenville LNG facilities to generate 10,000 jobs in Kano, says minister

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva, has said that two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities would generate 10,000 job opportunities in Kano.

Sylva disclosed this while unveiling two major liquefied natural gas plants, in Kano.

The minister declared that the establishment of LNG plants in northern part of country, was part of Federal Government’s policies of gas transformation. Sylva explained that government has facilitated the expansion of LNG to the region, through the production of Greenville LNG limited to create alternative energy sources.

He stated that the new plants that will generate six megawatt of clear and low cost energy, will boost industrialisation in Challawa industrial estate in Kano.

Greenville LNG, is the first company in Nigeria to bring natural gas to industrial customers in the northern region and to the middle belt, in addition to customers in the south. With fleet of cryogenic tankers that carry the LNG to far reaching areas of tg the company is committed to actualising the Federal government has transformation agenda.

The unveiling of the two plants at Mamuda Agro and Allied Products Nigeria Limited and Aspira Nigeria Limited, the two major customers of Greenville, the 220 cube meters of 6 cryogenics storage tanks, vaporiser and power plants have opened new vista of opportunities in Kano.

Representative of Aspira Nigeria, Alh. Muhammad Dandago, said the new facilities, would reduce total dependence on national grids and boost employment opportunity. He said the company which currently employ 6,500 workers will double it’s employment to 10,000 by January, 2021.
